Open Weave

My last trip home to the deserts of the west coalesced with investigations into native Navajo culture. I was awestruck by the rug weaving  - learning about the dying process using desert florals and botanicals. Rhe style I was really drawn to is “Two Grey Hills”, which doesn’t dye the wool, but rather uses an assortment of natural brown, black, grey, and cream colors straight from the sheep. This approach really spoke to me, as it carries deep wisdom of creating through an untainted filter and respecting what you find.
